Munteanu was born on October 13, 1990, in Munich, Germany. He was conceived by Florica and Dorin Munteanu.

A young Florian was inspired by the fact that his father was a former professional boxer and athlete. In his formative years, Florian experimented with a variety of sports before settling on boxing and fitness. In particular, his performance in the wildly successful 2018 film Creed II was greatly influenced by the actor’s fondness for the two aforementioned pastimes.

Through online training videos, Stallone discovered Munteanu, and he personally recommended him for the part.  Originally 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm) tall and weighing about 245 pounds (111 kg), Munteanu had to lose about 20 pounds (9.1 kg) for the role.
